FROSTBITE TOURNAMENT A GREAT SUCCESS!

46 brave souls turned out for the annual WTC Frostbite Tournament.  The tournament held true to its name, frosty with a gusting wind (25-30mph) out of the north. The wind made for some unusual shots and perplexities as players had to adjust to the changing conditions.  All in all it was a fun tournament with a great turn out.

The following were winners in their division:

  •  3.0 Mixed Doubles: Stephanie Walsh and Craig Costorphine (2 teams participated)

  •  3.0/3.5 Women’s Doubles: Marguerite Schaffron and Joan Anton (2 teams participated)
  •  3.0 Men’s Doubles: Tim and Zack Snow (3 teams participated)

  •  4.0 Women’s Doubles: Rosie Ramirez and Sarah Collinson (4 teams participated)

  •  3.5 Men’s Doubles: Pat Garrison and Dave Taylor (6 teams participated)

  • 4.0 Men’s Double: Peter Williams and Peter Pascoe (6 teams participated)

The WTC event committee, did a great job of organizing and putting on the tournament. Kate Watson baked some great muffins and scones … delicious! Floyd and Elaine helped by Roger and Marianne Cook checked in the participants and organized the play, others worked behind the scenes to make it a success.

Complimentary coffee, cream and sugar were supplied by Son Chong owner of Common Grounds Coffee.  He will be opening Common Grounds coffee shop at 729 Main Street (corner of Third and Main) on January 15.  The coffee was much needed and we wish him success in his venture.

Halloween Potluck Social was a great success.  Due to a light problem, tennis got off to a slow start but that didn’t stop the die-hard tennis players from getting in a couple of sets.  The Potluck at the McCain’s included lots of great food and featured Clowns, a Mummy ca 2000 BC, Batman and Poison Ivy, future astronauts, and an eight ball.
Mary and Phil (Clowns), Jeff Harris and Patty (Batman and Poison Ivy) and David Wade (Mummy) went home with the best costume prizes. Check out some pictures below.
